Rockstar with a beauty and photoshop – plus Team up Thursday

My beautiful youngest daughter – K.  She painted her face so that I would have an interesting subject to photograph.  She’s usually very hesitant to pose for me, I don’t know why because she’s just gorgeous.  Off camera flash, I converted to black and white and I used some free stamps in photoshop.  I also enhanced her eyes following Alexis tutorial (just the eye part).

Today is Team-Up Thursday.   As most of you know by now I have 2 partners.  How this works is that there is a theme assigned and you go about your own way and take a picture for that theme.  Then you combine it with your partners.  neither one of you know what the other is shooting until it’s time to put them together.

I absolutely love her image.  Her’s is on the left.  I played with off camera flash and bokeh Christmas lights.  Those have got to be my favorite prop.

Staci took a picture of this delicious looking cake.  I get the feeling she made it herself.  Pretty nice job decorating it.

While I had the lights out I decided to take both pictures for this challenge.

TeamUp Thursday – Diptych

Today is Team Up Thursday and me and my partners have once again teamed up.

I read that Staci was working on Valentine’s Day Cards with her children. Her image obviously shows her supplies and her awesome/colorful collection of scrapbooking paper.

On the left is Kris’s awesome texture of what I assume is a tree (?) on the right is my image of a collection of photography books from my library.  Kind of Ironic that these 2 images belong together.  I don’t have much to say about the China Set itself, it is what it is.  However, I’d like to say that I’ve always had a love of reading – I’ve downloaded several e-books that were helpful, and I have a couple on my I-Pod, I’ve seen the kindle and various other forms of paperless books, but I’m not impressed.  I’m afraid that after a couple of years paper books will become obsolete.    I will miss the pages, the covers and the images found in these paper forms of books.  I will miss the comfort of highlighting passages for future reference and sticking posted notes, book markers and even folding pages.  I will miss the textures and feel of the books.  In the end it is all about progress correct?  Do you remember the volumes and volumes of “The Encyclopedia” or the large dictionaries?  How about the phone books?  I don’t even think my kids know how to use any of those, but they have “the world” at their finger tips.  Did you ever have to use a “catalog” system at the local library?  Imagine how much easier writing a research paper is now.
