Colorful Fun – Northwest Indiana Photographer

My photography group had a meet-up on Saturday to the Kiwanis Hot Air Balloon Festival.  This is the first time I experience this event and I was so happy I could make it.

This is truly an event to witness. Next year they want to offer rides at the amount of about $200.00 to $250.00 dollars. Hmmm – sounds like the amount of a new battery pack to me.

Searching for the light – Northwest Indiana Photographer –

This morning one of the dogs drug in a dried leaf. Is it really fall already? Instead of picking up the leaf immediately I observed how the light from the North window worked as a back light. Yes, I took pictures of it because I liked the lighting and the shadow it created. That one is on my Facebook. Then I thought, “how would it light a fruit?” So, I used a red pear but the pear, unlike the leaf needed a little more light to bring out the colors on the front of it. I used a white board. As you can see the very bottom of the pear didn’t get any light. I processed using a free action from Coffeeshop.

I thought I’d try the daily shoot tonight since the Hot Air Balloon Fest was cancelled because of the weather.  I walked and drove a bit to find this location.
The daily shoot: Sep 9, 2011 – Make a photograph of a path, road, or trail that leads the viewer’s eye through the frame.

Dramatic skies . . .

Taken from the car the skies were constantly changing. I used my starter camera for these my trustee Nikon D-80 with the flawless 50mm 1.4 lens. I’ve always used that one for close up portrait photography thought I’d try something different. Love the “wide-angle” it gave me.

Brookfield Zoo – Chicago Illinois – Family time

My daughter treated us to an evening luau dinner at  Brookfield Zoo. The evening started at 6:30 pm (after closing) with a safari ride to the dolphin exhibit and ended at 10:30 p.m. after a lovely dinner and drinks. This was mostly an adult event and it was an amazing experience. Thank you Sandrita for this amazing gift.  I had such a great time.

Sun Flairs – Northwest Indiana – Photographer

I’ve been holding on to a set of images for the past month and a half. I wanted to make sure I could do these pictures justice. It’s my mother in laws birthday from July. I am really lucky to be able to have a great relationship with my in-laws. Words cannot express what they mean to me. Suffice it to say “Jan and Alex – I love you guys, thank you so much for your support.”
